To complete
this lesson properly you need to run Microsoft Word alongside your
web browser. Load Microsoft Word now and then click back to view
these instructions.
Word
basics- "Typing, fonts and
formatting" 1. When Word loads you should see a blank
screen as shown below. Select "View" and "Print layout" to make
sure you are using the same view.
2. Depending on exactly which version of
Word you are using, the screen may look slightly different.
However, look carefully to see if you can find the buttons shown
below:
In Word, hover over each of the buttons -
a short description will appear - known as a "tool-tip". 3. During this lesson you are going to use
all of these buttons, as well as others as well! However, there's
no need to worry, as you'll soon master the use of all of them.
Look again at the descriptions above - try to think what each
button will do. 4. In Word, type the following text onto
the page - don't alter the font,
size or anything yet. This is just some normal text that I am
typing out. Soon I will be able to change the font, alter the size,
make the text bold, use italics, underline the text or even do
everything at once. 5. Now, edit the text so it looks like the
text below. You will need to use the buttons you have explored
already. This is just some normal text that I am
typing out. Soon I will be able to change the font, alter the size, make the text
bold, use italics, underline the text or
even do everything at
once. 6. As you've already found out - this is
easy. By just typing and editing that short paragraph you've
already mastered many of the buttons in the picture! The tasks you
will now complete will help you develop more advanced skills. |
