3A)3 - Systems

The purpose of this Unit is to introduce the range of systems practiced whether the origin of the calves is the

  • Dairy herd – largely artificially reared - occasionally naturally reared on a cow that is not its own mother
  • Beef herd – naturally reared on its own mother - with or without other calves

On completion of the Unit students will be able to describe a range of calf rearing systems
