Zoonosis is defined by the world health organisation as "Diseases and infections, which are naturally transmitted between vertebrate animals and man".
People who work on farms are at serious risk of catching some zoonotic diseases as they work closely with animals.
This session will identify the major zoonotic diseases on farms and give examples of good biosecurity to avoid contamination.
At the end of this session you will be able to:
- Name the most common zoonotic diseases on british cattle and sheep farms
- Describe the mode of infection of a range of conditions
- State the main biosecurity measures that help farmers avoid catching zoonotic diseases
