Good dosing practice

Bad dosing practice

  • You should dose a group of sheep according to the largest size.
  • The gun should be calibrated before every session.
  • All ewes should be turned straight out to fresh grass after dosing.
  • Fecal egg counting should be used to check if you have a worm burden.
  • Wormers left in the vehicle can be exposed to high temperatures in summer.
  • Rotate the wormers families every year to avoid resistance.
  • Drenching guns should also be well maintained and replaced regularly.
  • The length of the barrell of the dosing gun doesn't matter. The same gun can be used for cattle and sheep.
  • Dose all ewes the first of every month from April to September.
  • You should dose a group of sheep according to the heaviest animal.
  • Only dose if you have a worm burden.
