Perfumes and Aftershaves are part of a multi-million pound industry. Most products have a retail value of between £20 and £50 and yet the actual cost of the contents is counted in pennies!
Much of the success of this industry is driven by the power of persuasion. Through advertising and marketing strategies we, as consumers, are convinced that these products will improve our quality of life.
Much of this persuasion is the result of carefully considered graphic products, which temp us with desirable images and portray quality and sophistication in the products they advertise.
Initial Design Brief
You are a graphic designer who has been approached to create a new perfume/ after-shave to penetrate the highly competitive current market place.
As a minimum you must design:
· A suitable logo/ brand name for the product
· An innovative bottle/ container to hold the scented contents
· Protective and stylish packaging for the product which complies with relevant legislation
· Any suitable form of advertising for the developed product
· Promotional products which will support the launch of the new perfume/ aftershave
The above products must be designed, manufactured and displayed in a suitable manner to clearly communicate your ideas to a producer/ manufacturer.
Try to be both innovative in your design work and address the issue of sustainability in your choice of materials.
